Dr Emily Lethbridge and her Land Rover
Cambridge, 09 December 2010; Dr Emily Lethbridge visited Marshall of Cambridge at 3.00pm today, Thursday 9 December, to be photographed with her Land Rover, which she is taking on a special trip to Iceland.
Marshall Specialist Vehicles in Cambridge designed and manufactured Dr Lethbridge’s Land Rover conversion (registered in 1990) along with 894 other ambulance conversions. Marshall of Cambridge is acting as one of the sponsors for Dr Lethbridge’s trip and has located six original MOD jerry cans that were given to Dr Lethbridge for her expedition. We found in our archives an original coachwork badge that would have been put on the original conversions and this was also given to Dr Lethbridge.
Marshall Specialist Vehicles have designed, manufactured and supplied four generations of Land Rover Field Ambulances to the MOD and still continues today to support the MOD.
Tim Otter, Future Business Development Director of Marshall Land Systems commented: “Marshall Land Systems (MLS) and its subsidiary companies Marshall Specialist Vehicles (MSV) and Marshall Vehicle Engineering (MVE) believe in putting quality into everything they do. The quality in the Land Rover Ambulance product is obvious. Over 20 years old and still soldiering on! We are delighted to support Dr Lethbridge and wish her well on an ambitious and challenging project”
Kevin Peacock, Senior Designer at Marshall Specialist Vehicles who still works for Marshall Specialist Vehicles commented: “This is just incredible as I can remember the project as if it was yesterday and I am still part of the team here at Marshall Specialist Vehicles. Over twenty years ago a team of us here at Marshall Specialist Vehicles worked on this project and today the Ambulance has come ‘home’ to see us where she was built. It is so rewarding to see that over 20 years after we designed and built this Land Rover Ambulance; that it is still going strong and helping Dr Lethbridge with her exciting expedition.”
Terry Holloway, Group Support Executive, said: “Marshall of Cambridge is delighted to be supporting Dr Emily Lethbridge in her project. It was a great pleasure to see the vehicle, which we built twenty two years ago, back at Marshall in such good condition”.
