2000 - Present Day

Marshall Land Systems has designed Integrated Ground Stations for the Army's Stand-off Radar (ASTOR) project and the Battlefield Communications project (Cormorant).  The Company is currently engaged in the manufacture of Ground Station Shelters, simulators and transport crates for the MoD's Watchkeeper surveillance UAV (unmanned air vehicle) programme and is involved in the manufacture of control stations for ground-launched low cost surveillance UAVs.  A sizeable Product Support department has also developed providing Through Life Capability Management (TLCM), Contractor Logistics Support and whole fleet support to the Company's own products as well as third party equipment.

Recently, Marshall Land Systems began work on a project to supply the MoD with 6,700 Cargo Vehicles to replace the Army's existing fleet; ironically as they did 60 years previously.  Again the cutting edge of technology has succeeded in producing a lighter yet more robust and durable truck.  With a £5m investment in a robotic welding facility, a new state-of-the-art Zinc Phosphate and Cathodic Electro Dip facility and the use of Computer Aided Design and Finite Element Modelling, a longer lasting truck that is lighter, more durable and capable is being delivered.

At the end of 2009, Marshall of Cambridge Group strategically realigned its business units and transferred the business divisions of Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS) to be part of Marshall Land Systems.  The primary aim of this transition was to provide a more effective service to various MoD branches.  As a result Marshall Land Systems expanded by an additional 300 people, increased its capability, geographical spread and offering to all existing and future customers.  A high proportion of the newly acquired people are diesel, hydraulic, electrical and service fitters and mechanics used to providing customer based or roadside maintenance and repair solutions across multi type vehicle and platform fleets on a nationwide basis. The depots are closely aligned with the transport network, existing customers and with UK MoD depots, bases and garrisons.

In January 2010 Marshall Land Systems announced the formation of a new business MSV Norway; the focal point of Marshall Land Systems’ activity in Norway.  MSV Norway provides in-country support for the hospitals and medical facilities and co-ordinate support to deployed units.  This includes arranging training, support and maintenance to ensure that the facilities are kept to the highest levels of readiness and quality expected of medical units.  Wherever possible much of this work is contracted to Norwegian companies.  The configuration of MSV Norway is a positive demonstration of Marshall Land Systems’ willingness to meet the offset obligations in Norway associated with the contract to supply field hospitals to the Norwegian Defence Forces, one of which was recently deployed by Norway to Chad supporting the United Nation’s MINURCAT.  Formation of the new organisation will allow Marshall Land Systems to focus on developing business in Norway in addition to helping Norwegian companies develop their presence in the export market.

In February 2010, Marshall Land Systems and Plasan announced the formation of a joint venture to design, manufacture and market armoured solutions to the UK land, naval and where appropriate air domains.  The 50:50 JV is based in the UK with both companies having an equal number of board members.  It is a free standing company reporting to the boards of both Marshall Land Systems and Plasan.  It is intended that the JV will be Marshall Land Systems’ main centre for armouring excellence capitalising on Plasan’s undoubted world leading capability in armour.

With the British Armed Forces' shift from a Cold War emphasis to Rapid Reaction Expeditionary Force, Marshall Land Systems’ military business has evolved in recent years from Equipment Manufacturer to Systems Integrator.  Today, the military business is centred on providing rapidly deployable systems for the UK MoD and military customers worldwide, for use in a wide range of situations and extreme environments as well as for humanitarian operations and by the United Nations.

Marshall Land Systems Australia is a demonstration of this worldwide commitment.  Marshall Land Systems Pty Limited is being set up to support new business in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region.
